With over 140 vehicles covering upwards of 18 different makes, diversity is one of the biggest reasons why customers return to Dann’s Discount Auto Sales. Heck, we’ve even been known to feature one or more of the MotorTrend car of the year vehicles on our lot.

So how does diversity jibe with this blog’s topic? Well, with so many different vehicles available at our used car dealer serving Tulare, CA, we can’t focus on one particular model’s dashboard lights. Instead, we’ll take a broader view and run through some of the common dashboard lights you’ll find on virtually every automobile.

Check engine light: Everyone knows what this light looks like, and what it means when it illuminates. But did you know it’s also called the “malfunction indicator lamp”? There’s some obscure automotive trivia for you.

Charging system: This is another familiar icon – the battery with the +/- symbols. When you start your car, this light will illuminate and then turn off. If it doesn’t turn off, there’s a problem with your battery and you should bring your vehicle to our car dealership. Don’t delay, since doing so could drain your battery and shut your car down.

Engine coolant temperature: Symbolized by a thermometer, this light might turn on if you’ve been driving for a long time in hot weather, or if you’ve been doing some heavy towing and hauling for hours on end. This light means your engine is running low on coolant and could overheat. This should be taken care of as soon as possible.

Tire pressure light: This alert, present on all of our used cars near Hanford, CA, consists of an exclamation point within a horseshoe shape. When this light comes on and stays on, it means one or more of your tires are underinflated.
